Did you know that nearly half of citizens with disabilities are not registered to vote? The
American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) has identified a “participation gap” between voters with and voters without disabilities – a gap that has increased 20 percent in recent years.
That’s why Allsup and AAPD, the country's largest cross-disability membership organization, have come together—to encourage the 50 million Americans with disabilities to vote so they can be heard in Washington, D.C., their local states and communities.

Making Voting Accessible for Everyone
American Association of People with Disabilities
You have an opportunity this November to vote for a president and members of Congress who can make a positive difference, but you have to show up. Learn all about registering and voting in your local area right here. We’ve put together information for voters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including how to register, how to vote by absentee ballot if you cannot leave your home and resources available to help voters get to the polls.
This is an important election for people with disabilities—whether you’re a Democrat, Independent or a Republican. We’re non-partisan organizations, and we won’t tell you how to vote. The undeniable fact, however, is that the Social Security Disability Insurance system, which currently benefits more than 8 million people with disabilities, is struggling. It’s bursting at the seams, with nearly three-quarters of a million applicants still waiting up to years to obtain the benefits they’ve already paid for.
Where do the candidates you plan to vote for stand on fixing the SSDI system—so that it can provide effective and efficient support for those with disabilities who can no longer work?
You have a voice and the opportunity to make a difference for the future of your family, your neighbors, your employer and any hard-working American who has or could experience life-altering challenges. Please make the most of that opportunity by voting on November 4.
