Compassionate Allowances

Faced with the reality of an unprecedented backlog of 3.3 million claims in 2012, and longer wait times for applicants, the Social Security Administration (SSA) utilizes its Compassionate Allowances program in an effort to provide benefits quickly to applicants whose medical conditions are so serious that their conditions obviously meet disability standards.
