Allsup Supports Cancer And Careers’ Free West Coast Conference On Balancing Work & Cancer

Free virtual event offers expert guidance on balancing health and career transitions

Belleville, Illinois — Oct. 20, 2025 — Allsup, the nation’s leading provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation services, return-to-work support, and veterans disability appeal services, is proud to sponsor Cancer and Careers’ 11th Annual West Coast Conference on Work & Cancer, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025.

This free virtual event provides cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, employers and advocates with essential resources and strategies for navigating the challenges of employment during and after cancer treatment.

“The conference highlights the real-world challenges individuals face when balancing medical needs with workplace responsibilities,” said T.J. Geist, principal advocate at Allsup. “At Allsup, we understand these concerns deeply. This event offers practical tools and guidance that complement our mission—helping people access SSDI benefits and, when they’re ready, return to the workforce through the Ticket to Work Program.”

Since 1984, Allsup has helped individuals with health conditions secure SSDI benefits when they are unable to work. The company’s experts guide claimants through the complex SSDI process, improving approval rates and reducing financial hardship.

Through Allsup Employment Services (AES), a Social Security-authorized Employment Network, individuals who are ready to rejoin the workforce can access personalized career support, job search assistance and benefits coordination through the Ticket to Work Program.

Conference topics include:

  • Balancing treatment and work
  • Disclosure and privacy in the workplace
  • Managing side effects while employed
  • Effective communication and accommodation requests
  • Job search after a diagnosis
  • Setting boundaries and adjusting career expectations

The event will feature expert speakers Nicole Jarvis, LMSW, assistant director of programs at Cancer and Careers; Ali Schaffer, LCSW, a Nashville-based therapist and national speaker specializing in psycho-oncology and wellness; and Scott Sinclair, senior manager of programs at Cancer and Careers. Each brings extensive experience supporting individuals navigating the intersection of work, life and cancer.

Three accredited sessions will offer continuing education credits for nurses, social workers and HR professionals. The conference will be hosted via Zoom, with real-time closed captioning available for all sessions.
