Allsup Presents Online Mental Health Event For Individuals Living With Chronic Illness & Disabilities

Program designed to empower participants with tools, resources and access to experts in mental health, digital imagery, chronic illness and employment

Belleville, Ill. — May 26, 2016 — Allsup, a nationwide Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation company, will host the web event, “True Help Claiming Power to Improve Your Mental Health,” on Thursday, June 16, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CST).

The second in the 2016 series of web events created to empower individuals living with chronic illness and disabilities, the program will help participants re-charge personal power resources that are often drained, including psychological stamina, social support and finances.

Participants will have access to expert presenters including representatives from the Lupus Foundation of America, the EDI Institute, MoodNetwork and Allsup Employment Services. Accessing tools and connecting with programs designed to empower can help people with disabilities improve their quality life and enhance their health and longevity.

“The EDI Institute is pleased to be a part of Allsup’s important mission of spreading innovative ideas, helping people claim power for improving their mental health,” said EDI Founder Steven Koppel. “Through Expressive Digital Imagery [EDI], we promote recovery and resilience through imagery created on mobile devices, enabling the expression of feelings and emotions that are often inaccessible through words alone.”

In addition to the visually compelling EDI demonstration, the web event will feature information on MoodNetwork.org, the first patient-powered research network for mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder);  a discussion of mental health issues for people living with chronic illness, the effects of employment on mental health, and re-employment resources.

The interactive event will include group chats, a live Q and A with the experts, instant polls and opportunities to win prizes. After June 16, individuals can access the program on-demand and will be able to submit questions to receive an email reply.
