Allsup Provides Disability Benefits Info to Folks in Underwear

Sponsors Colorectal Cancer Alliance Undy Run in Forest Park, March 24

Belleville, Ill.—March 15, 2018— Cancer of the colon, rectum or anus is the third leading cancer diagnosis among new Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries, according to Allsup, a nationwide SSDI representation company based in Belleville, Illinois. Allsup will provide SSDI eligibility screenings at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (CCA) St. Louis Undy Run Saturday, March 24, at Forest Park.

Despite effective screening methods and treatment options if detected early, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths and a significant cause of disability in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

SSDI provides a monthly income and other benefits to individuals who cannot continue working for 12 months or more due to a physical or mental condition. According to the CCA, while the incidence and death rates of colon cancer have declined in those 50 and above, it is on the rise for those under 50. For younger cancer patients, SSDI is often a lifeline, providing access to Medicare and resources to help them return to work when they are medically able.

Cancer patients and survivors who have not been able to work or anticipate not being able to work for 12 months or more and need information on applying for disability, can use the online tool empower by Allsup ®.  It will quickly determine the likelihood of qualifying for benefits, guide individuals through the SSDI application process and help them use their benefits to return to work, if and when they medically recover.
