Allsup Provides Social Security Disability Resources At TriValley Walk To Cure Arthritis In Livermore

Event raises funds and awareness to fight the nation's leading cause of disability

Belleville, Ill. — May 10, 2016 — Arthritis is the nation's leading cause of disability. In northern California, one in every four individuals is affected by arthritis, according to the Arthritis Foundation. California residents who are unable to work due to arthritis and other serious conditions may be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits they paid for during their working years, according to Allsup, a nationwide SSDI representation company.

Allsup is a sponsor of the 2016 TriValley Walk to Cure Arthritis and is pleased to provide SSDI information and resources at the event on Saturday, May 14, at LifeStyleRX in Livermore.

Access to SSDI resources and expert representation may help California residents break through the current SSDI application backlog.  With 93,158 pending claims, California leads the nation in the number of backlogged SSDI claims. The Social Security Administration (SSA) estimates SSDI applicants will wait nearly 500 days for a hearing before an administrative law judge.

Social Security Disability Insurance is a federal insurance program funded by FICA payroll taxes.  It is an important resource for former workers who, due to a disability, are unable to work for 12 months or more, or have a terminal condition. However, the SSA denies more than two-thirds of initial SSDI applications. Appeals can take several months or years.

Allsup reminds applicants that having expert SSDI representation can help individuals get approved at the initial and appeal levels. For more information on applying for SSDI benefits with a chronic pain condition, access the on-demand Web program, True Help Claiming Power Over Pain.
