Case Managers’ Exceptional Care Celebrated During Case Management Week, Oct. 8-14
Allsup joins American Case Management Association in recognizing case managers’ contributions to patient care
Belleville, Illinois — Oct. 5, 2017 — National Case Management Week (NCMW) is October 8-14, and Allsup, a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation, veterans disability appeal, exchange plan and Medicare plan selection services celebrates the American Case Management Association’s (ACMA) theme of “Exceptional People. Exceptional Care.”
The week is an opportunity to recognize the quality patient care that case managers provide across the healthcare experience and beyond. Case managers routinely connect patients with resources outside of the healthcare setting, including assistance with disability benefits such as SSDI.
An Allsup survey of more than 1,000 case managers, social workers, and other healthcare providers showed that 93 percent received questions about disability benefits.
“Patient outcomes are affected by concerns such as employment and finances,” said Allsup Healthcare Professionals Account Manager Dawn Sachteleben. “Patients who can’t return to work often rely on a trusted case manager for guidance and information on how to apply for disability benefits.
“Continuing education is important to the case management profession, and their commitment to patient care is evident in their desire to learn about the Social Security disability application process and the resources available for their patients,” she added.
Case managers provide exceptional care through collaborative clinical assessment, care coordination, patient education, counseling, case monitoring/clinical pathway management, discharge planning, resource management and patient advocacy, according to the ACMA.
In conjunction with National Case Management Week, Wednesday, Oct. 11, is Accredited Case Manager (ACMTM) Recognition Day. This day celebrates case managers who have achieved the ACMTM certification, a nationally recognized certification that demonstrates a validation of competency and a commitment to industry best practices.
