The 5 Most-Watched SSDI Videos Of 2025

As Allsup wraps up another year of helping people get approved for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), we look back on what people have needed the most help with. As is often the case, it’s the basics of SSDI.

We are asked a lot of questions about SSDI, such as:

  • What is SSDI?
  • How do I get SSDI?
  • How do I get disability benefits?
  • How much do I get for SSDI?

We feel you are looking for more than just answers. You’re need to know what to do, how to do it and who can help. Our 42 years of experience has helped us recognize and respond to these needs. Here’s what’s been top-of-mind this year—and the answers.

#5: How SSDI Is Calculated?

Most people want to know how much they would receive from SSDI, but the typical next question is, “How is that calculated?” Wanting to know WHY you are getting that amount is a fair question.

This short video, presented by Cassie, explains some of the decisions behind the “how.” For instance, did you know the severity of your condition doesn't affect payment amount? Find out why along with some other interesting points from this video.

#4: What Is SSDI?

To some, it’s the most basic question. To others, SSDI is part of a host of new things that come up when entering the world of having a disability. To be fair, most of us don’t think or even hear about it until we might need it. Otherwise, each American worker dutifully  contributes a little of each paycheck into this insurance program.

This serves as a good "SSDI 101" primer—it answers the basic "what is this and do I qualify?" questions clearly. Watch it to get an extra-clear picture of what exactly SSDI is and how it can help at a very challenging time.

#3: How To Create Your ID.me Account

It seems like this shouldn’t be a topic. In truth, when the SSA changed how to access your account with them, it caused confusion for many people. They shifted from using an SSA username sign-in to using either Login.gov or ID.me.

This is a step-by-step tutorial video from Allsup explaining how to create or update access to your "my Social Security" account using ID.me. If your my Social Security account is more than three years old, you need to switch to Login.gov or ID.me to maintain access to SSA online services. Otherwise, if you already have one of those alternate types or created your account after September 18, 2021 then you can skip the whole thing.

#2: Top 3 Tips For Being Approved For SSDI

In a nutshell: “How do I get this done?” It’s what everyone wants to know. It’s not simple and it varies by case. However, there absolutely are things that increase your chances.

This Allsup video features TJ Geist, principal advocate, offering three key tips. Use it together with the #1 video (up next) to find out what it takes to make a strong case.

#1: Common Mistakes To Avoid When Applying For SSDI

Regina Carlton, a certified representative with 20 years of experience at Allsup, discusses common mistakes people make when applying for SSDI benefits. One of her key points? Be thorough with your doctor. Don't downplay or forget to mention daily struggles.
