Attend Virtual Event For Chronic Disease Day: July 10
As we all tackle the spread of COVID-19, we can’t lose sight of those suffering from chronic diseases.
This year, Chronic Disease Day is Friday, July 10, and while virtual, it will be loaded with information and presentations from well-known advocates to build awareness and raise funds.
Dr. Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable, director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, Rep. Joseph Kennedy III and Chris Draft, former NFL star and founder of the Chris Draft Family Foundation are among the chronic disease champions presenting during the virtual event at 12 p.m. ET.

Chronic Disease in the U.S.
Do you know why the 10th day of the seventh month was chosen for this year’s virtual event? In the U.S., seven out of the 10 top causes of death stem from chronic diseases, which kill more than 1.7 million Americans every year.
In addition, 133 million Americans have at least one chronic disease, and by 2025, it is estimated that 164 million Americans will be affected by chronic diseases. Continuing, chronic conditions account for 81% of hospital admissions and more than 90% of our annual healthcare spending according to Patient Services Incorporated (PSI).
Most of us are familiar with chronic diseases that affect us or our loved ones, like heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer. And countless others fall into the category of “invisible illnesses.”
These medical conditions can lead to devastating health, financial and social effects, and they can dramatically alter individuals’ quality of life.
That’s where Allsup can help. We understand the day-to-day challenges people face when dealing with chronic diseases. Can they still work? Can they perform common daily tasks like lifting, shopping or cleaning?
If Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can help to relieve the financial and emotional burden of chronic diseases, empower by Allsup® will let you know immediately if you are likely eligible for SSDI benefits. If so, our easy-to-use, free online tool will guide you through the complex application process with ease.
